Theme:
Change
is the Only Constant
May 5:
"Turn, Turn, Turn"
Rev. Lisa
Wiggins with the UUFLG Choir
Cinco de Mayo
(May 5th) takes our Mexican neighbors from the fighting
fields of the past into
today's celebration of heritage and pride. It is not
unlike the dance of
the agricultural revolution which took thousands of years;
the industrial
revolution which took hundreds of years; and now the
informational revolution
which is only taking a few decades. As Pete Seeger who
adapted the Ecclesiastes
poem to the popular song, "Turn, Turn, Turn" says, "If we
use it
[informational age] and use the brains God gave us then who
knows what miracles
will happen in the next few years." What are the
miracles that
await us all of whatever age, persuasion or nationality?
The UUFLG Choir
will sing "Turn, Turn, Turn."
May 12:
“Mother’s Day”~ Mothers of UUFLG
Three of our
members will share their unique experience of being a
mother, grandmother or serving in a capacity as a mother
figure. These ladies each have their own perspective on
the subject. Come, listen and enjoy these real life
adventures. In honor of Mother’s Day flowers will be given
to all adult females.
May 19:
"The Transient and Permanent"
Rev. Lisa
Wiggins
William Ellery
Channing knew that what he was about to say in his sermon,
"The Transient
and Permanent," would mark a radical change and spark the
Unitarian
movement in the United States in 1819. And when the
congregants and
invited journalists left the Baltimore Unitarian Church that
day, they too also
felt the sea change. There was no turning back.
Unitarianism in the
Americas was on a roll for generations to come. Images
of the Baltimore
UU church's gorgeous Tiffany mosaic glass frescos will be
shown as part of the
sermon.
May 26: Spiritual
Cafe:
"Change is the Only Constant"
Rev. Fa Jun
and Members of Sunday Programming
After a short
summary in the Sanctuary, the congregation joins each other
in the West Room
and Patio to reflect more directly in small groups about
change in their lives
and how each person copes effectively with the constant
change he or she
experiences. The discussions deepen the ideas
presented during the month,
as well as making meaningful connections with others in the
group.
Guiding questions, as well as coffee and tea, will be
available to
facilitate the sharing.
