Meet Our Minister
Reverend Lisa Wiggins

The Rev. Lisa Wiggins comes to us in September 2011 as our half-time Consulting minister. She was raised a second generation Unitarian Universalist in a family which stressed the value of education and creativity. Rev. Wiggins' first ministry was in upstate New York in 1977 after which she became a Community Minister in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Senegal. She has served as an international program and management consultant, was President of a private foundation providing social and economic development services around the world and served a year as the chaplain for the U.S. military in Somalia.

During the last decade Rev. Wiggins has served as a half-time Consultant Minister in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and as Community Minister for congregations in Yakima and in Port Angeles,WA as well as Associate Director for the UU Service Committee’s Just Works Program in central WA state, and itinerant preacher addressing congregations in the Pacific Northwest, Canada and Northern California.

As an active voice for our religious tradition, she is currently developing a theological reflection component for the Young Leaders Project (young adult spiritual activism) of the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministries, she preaches around the Pacific Central District and she provides consulting services to congregations. She continues to explore the evolution and  the relevancy of Unitarian Universalism in creating a more beloved community in a world whose health, beauty and balance are constantly challenged.

In addition to her ministry, Rev. Wiggins treasures her family and her love of the wilderness, often captured in her photography. She is married to a musician-writer-cook-kayaker husband who is also a Unitarian Universalist minister serving the Marin County, CA congregation. They share their home with 2 standard poodles who brighten their days. They have 3 grown sons and 9 grandchildren of whom they never see enough. Rev. Wiggins delights to be close to her twin sister, or “womb mate,” who lives in the south Bay Area. And at age 60, Rev. Wiggins is ever-so-slowly learning to play the cello.

Rev. Lisa Wiggins brings to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Los Gatos her passion for the possible and her commitment to expanding the Unitarian Universalist vision of a shared, caring and evolving community. She believes that the building of community is not magic; but magical things do happen when we come together with respect and care for one another and for our environment, and with a good sense of humor. She looks forward to an inspiring and productive partnership with the Los Gatos Fellowship, together championing the great gifts of liberal religion in support of the growth and vitality of our congregation and of the greater Los Gatos community.
