Education Programs for Children
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Los Gatos has a vibrant and growing religious education program for children.
We want our children to develop a strong sense of personal values and to feel confident in expressing and acting upon them. Our religious education program for children teaches ethical living, our Unitarian Universalist principles and heritage, and explores many of the religions of the world.
Sunday Morning Schedule
The UU Bumblebees
Children
ages 0-3 are welcome in our cozy preschool, which is open from 10:15
a.m. until noon. The UU Bumblebees enjoy
forming new friendships while learning some of their first Unitarian
Universalist lessons through story, song, art, and of course, play.
Children
aged 4 and up should proceed to the sanctuary with their families,
where they are an important part of our community during the first
fifteen minutes of the service. After
participating in our Time for All Ages, they will be led out with a
song to join their classes.
We meet in
the west room to join together as a group, light our chalice, and share
our joys and concerns before dividing into two classes, which are
categorized by interest rather than age.
The Unitarian Team
Our
kinetic class offers lots of fun and excitement for young children who
love movement. Here, they will enjoy music
and activities based on the values of the seven principles and six
sources of Unitarian Universalism.
The Universalist Talents
Our young readers explore the
lives of famous Unitarian Universalists and their impact on our world,
as well as the way our beliefs affect our everyday life.
~~~~~
We provide supervised playtime for the children in the outdoor playground or the preschool room during social time after the service, from 11:30 until noon.
Registration
Our religious education program is open to members, friends, and visitors of the Fellowship. There is no standard fee for your child(ren) to participate in our religious education program (although some classes may ask payment for materials). The program is a cooperative depending on parents to assist the paid staff in the classroom once a month.
We ask parents to register any children they entrust to the care of the Fellowship, and to pick them up and sign them out after the end of service or social time.
You may download and print a Religious Education RegistrationPDF Form here. Please bring the completed and signed form with you on Sunday morning.
