Sunday, August 1: “Atonement as Humanity’s Present Purpose - Joel Gilbertson-White
A portion of humanity has created for itself a world of comfort with a high quality of life. This process has come at a high cost to our planet and to many of its inhabitants. While it may be difficult to ascertain an ultimate purpose to human existence, it is clear that the progress humanity has made has taken us out of right relationship. This Sunday, we aim to declare a purpose capable of uniting the human will toward a common purpose--that of returning back to a balance with each other and with nature. Come join us, and bring a friend!

Sunday, Aug 15  Personal and Community Legends, Rev. Sonya Sukalski is a Consulting Minister with the UU Legislative Ministry of California, working to empower adults aged 18-35 in leading justice work based in their UU values.  Paulo Coelho talks of personal legends and the stages we go through in discovering and living them in the novel, The Alchemist.  Sonya will explain his framework and reflect on how this translates to Communities, and the legends they live out.

The Great Books discussion group at UUFLG will meet on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 7:30 PM to discuss William Shakespeare's "Othello".   All of our discussions stand on their own as they are confined to the selection we have all read and do not require knowledge of other readings.  Everyone's opinion is respected -- newcomers and veterans alike.  Call Brent Browning or Erma Browning at 408-353-6340 if you would like to join us."
Thanks,  Brent, 408-353-6340
